Upcoming performances include Daughter of Dawn at LICA 2006 concerts -- October 12 @ 12PM (Queens College, CUNY) and November 12 @ 3PM (Grace Church, Brooklyn, NY) by soprano Jacqueline Thompson and pianist Hadassah Guttmann. Poem will be preformed at the Bayport-Bluepoint Library on Long Island Sunday October 29 @ 2PM.

 

 

Frank Retzel was a Guest Composer on Gandalf's show, WJFF-FM, July 31, 2006, 12-2PM. Several works were played on the show including the premiere of Tamarind for orchestra.

 

 

Tamarind for orchestra was recorded (March 3 and 4, 2006) in a stunning performance by the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Oberg. This recording will be issued soon on a compact disc from Opus One Recordings.

 

 

New compositions include Mosaics for an octet of winds and strings (2005), and Lyric Set for flute and harp (2006).

 

 

The Papal commissions from 1995 (Love Divine and Crucifer) are to be published by Seesaw Music, Inc.

 

 

A couple of memorable performances from the recent past -- Elizabeth Farnum, soprano, and Christopher Oldfather, piano, performing Three Songs of Seamus Heaney (June 9, 2004, Symphony Space, NYC). Elizabeth Farnum and pianist Lin Li performed Summer Songs (Nov. 18, 2004, Queens College, NYC).
